Amigurumi- Working Without a Pattern

AmigurumiWorking Without a PatternHi everyone! I'm TheSmall-Stuff (https://www.deviantart.com/thesmall-stuff) and what I love is to make amigurumi, but I'm never patient enough to use a pattern. Because of this, I've found and developed a bunch of techniques that I use while designing the dolls that I make! What I'm going to try to do is explain my thought process in making a doll, and share some of the techniques that I use to form the shapes and the details in a character. Sorry it's long, but I tried to use lots of pictures. I hope this helps! Lets start :la: 1: PlanningShapes are key!    When you go to make a doll, you need to pick it apart in your head and see all of the shapes th

Working Without a Net

I did what any of us would have done when learning that my Internet service had been shut down. I cried. Actually, that's not completely true. The first thing I did was frantically dial up the campus tech people, who told me the problem would be resolved in an hour. Anyone who has ever dealt with Electronic Device Repairpersons should already know that "an hour" in their language translates into "sometime between an hour and the rapture." So I waited an hour. Then I cried. How could I possibly function without instant access to news, entertainment, and all that other stuff that's just sort of there? What could I do in place of checking my

How to (not) Sell your Comic at a Convention

So, you've got your comic all finished, printed, and ready to sell. Chances are you've got a table in the Small Press section (or Artist Alley, depending on the show,) your book and your banner. Now what? My first comic convention was Heroescon in Charlotte, NC. We had a Small Press table way in the back of the hall and we were ready to sell, sell, SELL! We did that for a few years with a book called GravyBoy and did fairly well. I think we sold 100 books one year at that show
